This is the page where I will keep a diary of the work I do on this huge dolls house.
My husband's word for it - TRAGIC.
The size - Width is 36 3/4" but where the boards are, these make it 37". The depth is 14 1/4".
The Height 23 3/4" from the bottom to top of rooms. 25 1/2" from bottom to top of balustrade and approx. 31" from the bottom to the top of the roof.
All the balconies had fallen off
Some of the damage to the roof balustrade
Just a bit of the damage to the windows
The two downstairs rooms.
The Wallpaper.

One of the upstairs rooms
The other upstairs room. Lovely delicate Irises.
The Doors
The doors seem to be rather small in height. I will measure them. Real hinges have been used but are rather rusty. I should be able to clean them up when I get that far.
The stairs are falling apart and some of the metalwork is bent.

The door itself is about 5 7/8" in height and 2 5/8" in width. With the architrave it measures 6 1/4" high and 3 1/2" wide.
The depth of all the rooms is 14". The ground floor height is 11 1/4" and the top floor is 11 1/2". The width of the rooms is about 13 5/8" and the stair well being 8".
They are quite a good size.

17/05/2019 - The mystery of this house.
When I first saw this house I thought it looked American. Maybe some of the quirks would give me a clue as to where it came from. It was brought from Glasgow. I wondered if someone had bought plans and made it from these. I tried to find the wallpapers but have, as yet, only tracked down the irises one. It seems to be available only in America. Today I have had another idea. The wallpapers may have been available in UK years ago, but no longer.
It seemed odd that the boards on the outside only stopped part way. If American, surely they would go right up? They also seem far to wide for the American style. It has occurred to me that they might represent the stonework of large, old buildings. Many large buildings have stonework from large blocks with a 'groove' in between. That stops part way up the building and smooth stonework carries on. I also recall reading about the old Georgian mansions hiding the rooves by setting them back and using balustrade to hide them from eye level.
So perhaps this was a one off house representing the old Georgian mansions. It could be that the builder just made it up as they went along. I love the long windows. I might just have to keep that idea for something!
