Dolls House and Miniature Scene

 Read about the house I have been working on for over 18 months. There is an article about it the magazine issue September 2021.

I still have lots of pieces to make for it and some additions have been added since the photos were taken for the article.

Update

I have been working away on various small things. I have been making the little things for the House I have been working on for more than 18 month now. Some things for the Bedroom Room Box too.

I have also been trying to tidy up the Etsy shop and have added a few pieces. I don't have things for sale very often but what I do sell, are unique. This is simply because I haven't been able to purchase ready made items similar to what I want. 

I need to add to this blog as well but I am usually too busy making things!

Room Box and some updates

Good grief, have I not posted on here since August last year? Well Obviously I haven't! 

I was VERY ill after my last post and it has taken a long time to feel better. NO. Not Covid. I did try to make a sleigh and it took me a week or so to make something that could have taken a day under normal circumstances. 

I have also STILL been working of pieces for the house I began before Covid came to our attention. I've tried very hard to stay focused on that but have had to do some other things for a break. Everything for that house has really had to be made from scratch, which is why it's take so long.

I have two more things to make which were the fixture in the house. Then I can carry on making the furniture and ornaments etc. 

I have added things to the bedroom room box; lighting, coving, fake doorway, as well as a rug and furniture. I still have some other bits I want to add.

I have also been adding a few pieces to my Etsy shop. It was just beginning to fill up and half the pieces were sold. It's good, but feels like one step forward.......

Bedroom Roombox

Here is the room box I've been working on. I still have more pieces to make and they won't be lined up like this. They are placed for the photo.
I need to design a sofa for the 'Covid' house so will practise one for this room first. I know the one I need will be nothing like the one I make for here, but I'll get the ideas as I go.

3 Drawer Chest

Just finished. This is the chest of drawers to match with the rest of the furniture.
Things looks so neat until you take a photo.

I have made the room box, printed off wallpaper and flooring and added them. Now I am moving back to making something for the house build, although, I still have more pieces to make for this room. As usual, I'm waiting on something coming.

Off at a tangent

I've sidetracked myself. The first bed I made, to check for size, gave me some ideas. Bad sign. I made a couple of bedside tables to go with it. Then I just had to make a wardrobe. Now I need a chest of drawers. 

I don't have a room to fit this all into so I bought a large room box. I will be using it as a photo booth as well as a display for these bedroom pieces. 

I have kept myself focused on the house build for 6 months so I decided to give myself a bit of slack with this. I am still thinking and working on the things for the house but it is nice to just do something different. 

Once I put the roombox together and finish it, I will take some better photos (I hope) of the bits I've been making.

Beds

Beds, beds, and more beds.

I made a bed, from an online tutorial, to see how it would fit into the bedroom. It was to scale but the design made it a tiny bit too large. However, my own design was for a 'Utility' bed which would give me a few more millimetres. I made that one from the old catalogue for utility furniture. There was an alternative design, and I made that one too.

I am trying to keep everything as near to what I remember in our real house. I just couldn't quite remember what my parents' bed was like. The utility ones just didn't ring any bells. I was searching online, for some sizes, and came across another bed. As soon as I saw a tiny little bit in the middle of the headboard, I knew right away that it was the very style my parents originally had. It had a little bit of decoration and I could never figure out what it was for. It looked like a handle. I remember asking my mum - decoration. Now I have to make another bed! Picture will follow. I might even make the other two again with more modifications.

 

A lot of bits arrived last week. Parts to finish the bedroom fireplace, wood, material and a few other things. I was able to make the second bed when the wood arrived. I'd run out of a particulaar thickness. I have almost completed the fireplace and the materials are for the window curtains. I have also ordered a room box which will be sent today. I have things to get on with whilst I am waiting for that to arrive. It will be a 'photo booth' as well as a 'spare room' where the overflow of furniture can go. 

 

Another busy week ahead.
