Flickering Fire

I have been busy again. I am building a new construction and trying out some new ideas. I wanted a flickering fire in this one. I also wanted to add a cauldron hung from a crane. I had purchased these for something else but they wouldn't fit. I made this fireplace so I could use them at last.

I have something, in my dolls house, which has a flickering fire and I really wanted something along the same lines. However, finding a circuit board and the same light bulbs, proved to be very difficult. The person who put the one I have, together, refused point blank to sell me a unit. So I will be out of luck if that one fails!

After a lot of searching, I eventually found somebody with something similar and this is what is used here.

It took longer to get it to work and fit but this turned out to be a faulty LED bulb which was only identified after quite a few attempts. I worked then didn't the worked again and repeated. Once I had a new bulb, it worked first time. It was very frustrating.

So now I am looking at some other things like animations.

Burke & Hare Model

There is an article in the 'Dolls House and Miniature Scene' magazine (October 2018) about my diaorama.

Male Servant

I had this doll lying around for a long time because I didn't think much of my face painting. He looked like a very bad drag queen. I eventually decided I had to do something with him to get my stuff tidied up. Once I gave him some hair and he had a collar, he looked very different. However, the photo doesn't do him any favours. He is actually nicer in the 'flesh'.
I had a terrible time trying to find plain black cotton for jackets. I did buy a piece from a really good quilting shop but it didn't stick together. The consensus was that this fabric had some sort of finish on it. It wasn't much use. I have now managed to buy some decent cotton which Maria ( Maria's Fabrics) also found she had great difficulty sourcing. The jacket on this chap is a piece of black curtain lining I was given to try.
Since he was less than perfect, I decided to try out some little gem stones for silver buttons.

Arlette

I forgot all about this doll I made almost a year ago. It is one of Dana Burton's dolls made in her class.

New Tabs

I am having a bit of a sort out with the pages. The 'Paperclay' Tab has been changed to 'Constructions'. This is for the simple reason that I have things that don't involve paper clay.

There would be just too many tabs if I keep adding pages that way.

I am also making a new page for the latest model. It is called 'Surgeons Hall' or as I call it, 'the cutting room'. It is a rather macabre subject but it will be funny - I hope! I will add a story of how it came about.

The New Project

I have now finished the room box for this new project. The 'story' for the inside will take a while to make. I will add some photos later when I get better lighting. It is going to be funny although it is based on something rather gruesome.

New Project

I am now working on a new model. I'm not saying what it will be. I'm just hoping it will fun to make.

Railway Carriage 'Finished'.

Here is the finished carriage. There will be some small additions eventually.
Other photos will be added to the railway carriage page.

Railway Carriage

I have added a new tab for the Railway Carriage. It will eventually be moved under another tab, probably the paperclay, although it isn't paperclay. I think I will have to change that heading!

1/12th scale dolls

I have sculpted some dolls but not particularly handsome. I have made a few of Dana Burton's dolls, beginning with a couple of her classes in 2017. I have now made another two. This is the latest one, called Dandy. There are a few things I could improve upon, but I'm sure, even perfection, I'd find fault.

I will upload the other dolls when I find where I have saved the files.

Easter Egg

I made some little chocolate Easter Eggs. I had intended to get them made and put into my Etsy store (it's been a little empty for a while) I can't remember who made the baskets and a fair organiser is going to get back to me with the possibilities. That will take time.
I have made some moulds for them but they will be ready for next year. I might make some little boxes too but I'd like to give them a vintage look.

Dolls house back in action

That is the wiring sorted on my large dolls house. I have some other things to sort out before my next project.

My husband bought me a vintage car at Dolls House fair last year. It wasn't until I was sorting things out that I realised it was perfect for my Wind in the Willows gang. I will be posting about them but I am waiting for something else before I do that.

However, here is a little sneak peek.

Brickworks

This is the remains of the Hoffman Kiln at Cherryton which the model is based on.

The Kiln went for greenscreen filming. Whilst it was set up I took a couple of pictures.

If you click on the PAPERCLAY tab you will find the links to the story of building this model.

I decided that it was about time I updated this Blog. In my last post, I was busy with finishing some things. I have been trying to catch up with stuff that has lapsed. I have finally been catching up wit it all but as soon as I get to the end, more things will be happening.

I will add to this page when I edit the other pages.
